Lost Freedom
by DCDave

Here's what neglect of our liberty's done:
Imagine that Tommy Burkett was your son,
Beaten to death back in ‘91,
And labeled a suicide.

Tommy had things that he wanted to do,
But murderous, drug-dealing thugs did too.
Endangered by many things young Tommy knew,
They saw to it that he died.

And who would have thought that their power was so great?
The cops would not even investigate,
While silence enveloped the Fourth Estate.
No one raised a hue and cry.

That criminals can now be so vicious and bold
Tells us that tyranny's well taken hold.
I know the complacent won't like to be told,
But we've let freedom die.
