Tainted Evidence

The TV "News Magazine" Sixty Minutes, on CBS tonight had some gruesome tales of atrocities in Kosovo as related by refugees to Christiane Amanpour. I didn't catch the beginning or the end of the segment, but I seriously doubt that CBS had any disclaimer concerning Ms. Amanpour's gross conflict of interest, as related below in the April 5 edition of Sam Smiths's Progressive Review online. I caught only portions of it because I was busy cheering on the Sacramento Kings in their NBA playoff game. Actually, I began the game cheering for their opponent, the Utah Jazz, but switched allegiances upon learning that two of Sacramento's key players are Serbian.

FUN FACT CNN WON’T TELL YOU

Ace CNN war correspondent Christiane Amanpour and ace State Department war promoter James Rubin were quietly married last summer in Italy. The story was barely mentioned in the US, but the BBC reported:

"He speaks on behalf of America; she reports to millions of television viewers around the world. But the wedding of American state department spokesman James Rubin and CNN reporter Christiane Amanpour was so discreet that most holidaymakers at the lakeside resort of Bracciano were unaware of the VIPs who had come to attend the wedding. One of the guests of honour at the wedding, US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, missed the ceremony altogether. She had been called back to Washington for urgent consultations after the bombing of the American embassies in East Africa. ~~ Among the guests were Balkan peace negotiator, Richard Holbrooke, and the son of the late American President John Kennedy, and his wife, Caroline. ~~ The bride wore a very simple sleeveless white gown. The groom wore a frock coat and sunglasses. It was a very private affair."
